2026/27 Centre College Scholarship Nomination Form

Alongside a generous need-based financial aid program, Centre College offers a variety of scholarship opportunities designed to recognize academic achievement, personal accomplishment, and strong character. Our goal is to identify high-achieving, ambitious, and intellectually curious students with the desire and capacity to lead.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS

The Centre Fellows Scholarship

THE CENTRE FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP – The Centre Fellows Scholarship is selective and recognizes high-achieving and engaged high school juniors who would benefit from a liberal arts and sciences education. There is no commitment on the recipient’s part, and students are still eligible to compete for higher awards. Domestic students are eligible for this opportunity, but United States citizenship is not required.

Candidates must be nominated by their high school counselor, and all nominations must be approved by the Centre College Admission Office. Up to ten nominations may be submitted from each school.

Benefits include a guaranteed minimum annual scholarship of $32,500. Centre Fellows may be considered for higher scholarships which, if received, will replace the Centre Fellows guarantee.

Successful candidates should exhibit the following credentials:

A minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5
A challenging course load comprised of some of the most demanding courses available at the school
A sincere interest in a liberal arts & sciences education
A concern for their high school and/or local communities as demonstrated by various personal commitments

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Premier Scholarships include the Grissom Scholars Program, a full-cost scholarship for domestic first-generation students, and the Lincoln Scholars Program, a full-cost scholarship for domestic and international students

Community-Based Scholarships include the Bonner Scholars Program and New Horizons Program which, if awarded, will replace other general merit scholarships.

Talent-Based Scholarships include Language, Performing Arts (music or theatre), and Studio Arts scholarships which, if awarded, may be combined with other general merit scholarships.

The Grissom Scholars Program

The Grissom Scholarship Application will close on January 15, 2027. Nominators are strongly encouraged to nominate students, and nominated students to accept their nominations, by the preferred deadline of December 1, 2026.

THE GRISSOM SCHOLARS PROGRAM – Designed for first-generation college students, the Grissom Scholars Program is a premier scholarship opportunity recognizing students with proven academic achievement, strong personal character, and exceptional potential for leadership and participation in the life of the College. Domestic students are eligible for this opportunity. United States citizenship is not required.

Benefits include a four-year, full-cost-plus scholarship, including tuition, fees, food and housing. Also includes on-campus mentoring, group interaction with other Grissom Scholars, leadership development, and $5,000 in enrichment funds for supplemental activities such as independent research, internships, and study abroad.

The student qualifies as a first-generation college student if their custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) have not completed a four-year college degree
Proven dedication to academic achievement

Strong work ethic, community builder, significant past involvement in personal activities, community life, service, and paid or unpaid work

The Lincoln Scholarship Application will close for submissions on December 1, 2026.

THE LINCOLN SCHOLARS PROGRAM - In honor of the 16th president of the United States, the Lincoln Scholars Program is designed for selfless, high-achieving students who exhibit a desire to act boldly in the pursuit of the greater good. International and domestic students are eligible for this opportunity.

Benefits include a four-year, full-cost-plus scholarship, individual mentoring, opportunities for career-building and leadership enhancement, and three summer enrichment experiences to further develop tenacity, grit, and the understanding of humankind’s challenges (programmatic extras are valued at over $10,000).

THE BONNER PROGRAM – The Bonner Program is a need-based program designed for students who are passionate about making a lasting impact through community service and civic engagement. Centre’s Bonner Program includes Bonner Scholars, who show commitment to community service and demonstrate high financial need by having a Student Aid Index (SAI) of no more than $15,000, and Bonner Leaders, who prioritize service and qualify for Federal Work Study. Domestic students are eligible for these opportunities, but United States citizenship is not required.

Bonner Scholars receive a minimum annual scholarship of $35,000, priority consideration for need-based financial aid, on-campus mentorship, community engagement opportunities with nonprofit organizations, summer internship funding, and leadership development.

THE NEW HORIZONS PROGRAM – The New Horizons Program is a scholarship opportunity that seeks to develop student leaders who are passionate about access, relationship-building, and fostering an inclusive campus community. The program is designed to provide a diverse group of students the opportunity to build leadership skills, professional development skills, communication skills, empathy, community, and appreciation for service learning. Domestic students are eligible for this opportunity, but United States citizenship is not required.

Benefits include a minimum annual scholarship of $35,000, priority consideration for need-based financial aid, on-campus mentorship, and leadership development.

Successful candidates should exhibit the following credentials:

Genuine interest in diversity issues and inclusion efforts
Strong character with the desire and capacity to lead change
Eagerness to work collaboratively with peers on meaningful campus-wide projects

THE LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP – The Language Scholarship recognizes students with a strong interest in Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Japanese, Latin, or Spanish who wish to continue their study of language and culture at Centre. Majoring or minoring in a language is not required. Students may apply for a Language Scholarship in their native language. International and domestic students are eligible for this opportunity.

Recipients receive an annual scholarship of up to $5,000. This scholarship may be combined with other general merit scholarships.

Successful candidates should exhibit the following credentials:

Interest in Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Japanese, Latin, or Spanish*
The desire to study foreign languages and cultures

*Due to the anticipated volume of Spanish Language Scholarship applicants, high school preparation and experience will be a consideration in the evaluation process.

THE PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP – The Performing Arts Scholarship recognizes talented musicians, vocalists, actors, and/or theater technicians who have experience in and a commitment to music and/or theatre. Majoring or minoring in performing arts is not required. Students may apply for a scholarship in more than one artistic area by submitting multiple applications; however, students are only eligible for one Performing Arts Scholarship in one concentration. International and domestic students are eligible for this opportunity.

Recipients receive an annual scholarship of up to $5,000. This scholarship may be combined with other general merit scholarships.

Successful candidates should exhibit the following credentials:

Experience in and a commitment to music and/or theatre
The desire to study music or theatre

Majoring or minoring in Studio Arts is not required. International and domestic students are eligible for this opportunity.

Benefits include a scholarship in the amount of up to $5,000 per year. This scholarship may be combined with another general merit scholarship.

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

Exceptional achievement in the visual arts
Commitment to studying studio art and art history
