If you wish to be considered for a Performing Arts Scholarship at Centre College, please review the following information and then complete the form below by the date of your chosen application plan deadline.
Early Decision & Early Action: December 1st
Regular Decision: January 15th
The Performing Arts Scholarship recognizes musicians, vocalists, actors, and/or theatre technicians who have experience in and a commitment to music and/or theatre.
Majoring or minoring in Performing Arts is not required. International and domestic students are eligible for this opportunity.
Benefits include a scholarship in the amount up to $5,000 per year. This scholarship may be combined with another general merit scholarship. All candidates will be notified of their status by mid-March.
Students may apply for a Performing Arts Scholarship in more than one area by submitting additional applications; however, students are only eligible for one Performing Arts Scholarship in one concentration.
Successful candidates should demonstrate:
• Experience in and a commitment to music and/or theatre;
• The desire to participate in the Music or Theatre programs including classes, productions, lessons, and/or concerts.
Recipients of the MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP who enroll at Centre College must:- Enroll in an appropriate ensemble each semester when not abroad
Your ensemble participation will be determined each semester in consultation with, and approval of your music scholarship advisor (a full-time faculty member)- Successfully pass music courses with a grade of at least a "C".
- Enroll in applied lessons each semester when not abroad;
- Enroll in MUS 116: Foundations of World Views of Music and one of the following: MUS 120: Materials and Structure of Music I, MUS 220: Materials and Structure of Music II, or MUS 232: Music History, Form, and Analysis during or before their junior year;
Recipients of the THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP who enroll at Centre College must:- Take THR 117: Acting 1
- Take one of THR 150: Intro to Tech Theatre OR THR 160: Intro to Design
- Take one of THR 133: Foundations of Drama & Theatre 1, THR 134: Foundations of Drama & Theatre 2, or THR 230: Theory & Criticism
Students should also plan on making a significant contribution to the life of the theatre program during each of their four years. There are a number of ways to accomplish this - enrolling in theatre classes, participating in productions, working in shops—just being around to help us make theatre!
Applicants may choose to audition in-person or by submitting a video. In-person auditions will be scheduled by a Performing Arts Coordinator. For those choosing the video option, videos should be submitted by December 1st for Early Decision and Early Action applicants, and January 15th for Regular Decision applicants.
